Technology giants’ investments in the pharmaceutical and health sectors are increasing day by day. We have also written recently that technology companies are in search of the ‘formula of immortality’ with the developing technology and increasing investments and that the human lifespan is getting longer day by day.
Here is another technology company that has accelerated its investments in the pharmaceutical and health sector… It has been nearly 2 years since it established Amazon Pharmacy, a subsidiary of Amazon, one of the leading technology companies. After this company, which he announced to establish with the aim of removing the prescription drug industry from pharmacy stores, now a new health breakthrough comes from the technology giant Amazon is launching a new product to expand its reach in the field.
THERE WILL BE MEDICINES FOR 80 COMMON DISEASES!
The firm has announced RxPass, a service where Prime users in the US can pay a flat $5 monthly fee to get the generic versions of as many drugs as they need.
Amazon initially said the service was like Losartan (for the hypertension drug Cozaar) and Sertraline (for the antidepressant Zoloft) and hair-strengthening pills. It said it would cover generics for 80 common diseases.
Emphasizing that they aim to present an attractive offer to a wide potential customer base with these 80 different types selected, Amazon Pharmacy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vin Gupta highlighted that more than 150 million people in the US already take one or more of the drugs in the RxPass offer.
EXCLUSIVE TO PRIME USERS ONLY
It was also highlighted that RxPass is not available to people on government medical plans like Medicare or Medicaid (Amazon Pharmacy is the supplier only and therefore cannot offer it directly). In the statement, “People pay the mentioned $5 out of pocket, not from insurance. In your application, you register as a Prime user under Pharmacy.
$5 HOW MANY ORDER
Amazon’s implementation seems to be a seriously bold move because the stated $5 monthly subscription fee is independent of how many items the customer orders. The monthly fixed fee does not change whether you take 1 or 20 drugs.
SOLUTION TO US HEALTHCARE PROBLEMS
It is emphasized that this application of Amazon is to prevent health insurance problems in the USA. Even for people with health insurance, drug costs create serious problems in the country. For this reason, it causes them to give up buying even when they need it.
Gupta said that insurance takes a very devious route and going to the pharmacy can become a burden. He started working to fill this gap!” said.
THEY WILL SAVE AT LEAST 50%
John Love, Vice President of Amazon Pharmacy, said, “Prime members already get fast and free delivery on prescription drugs, and with RxPass, Amazon Pharmacy will find it even more cost-effective and easy to get to. Any customer paying more than $10 a month outside for their eligible medication will save 50% of their prescription costs. or more, they will also save time to go to the pharmacy,” he said.
